# Can peptides speed injury recovery? How to read the claim

Why an injury-recovery claim needs human outcomes, a defined product and a meaningful comparison, not just laboratory results.

“Faster recovery” needs a clear definition. It might mean less pain, a change on an image, restored strength or an earlier return to ordinary activity. Those are different outcomes, and evidence for one does not automatically establish another.

The same applies to the product. A peptide is an amino-acid chain, a broad structural category. Naming that category does not identify a treatment or establish what it does for an injury. [1]

## A laboratory finding is an early step

FDA distinguishes preclinical research from clinical research in people. Laboratory or animal work can help investigators decide what to study, but it cannot replace human studies of how a drug behaves in the body. [2]

For an injury-recovery claim, the study needs to match the injury and the proposed benefit. A useful paper should make it possible to answer:

- What condition did the participants have?
- What exact product and formulation did they receive?
- What was the comparison group receiving?
- How was recovery measured, and for how long?
- What adverse effects were recorded?

These questions follow the basic elements FDA describes for clinical study planning: participant selection, comparison methods, duration and the information researchers intend to collect. [2]

## A product listing is not that evidence

A vial sold online may look like a medicine without having undergone FDA review. FDA states that unapproved drugs have not been evaluated by the agency for safety, effectiveness and quality. [3]

A testimonial about feeling better the next morning does not measure whether an injury healed sooner. Recovery claims need a defined outcome and a meaningful comparison.

The most informative claim is the narrow one that matches the actual research: a named intervention, a defined injury and a measured result over a stated period.
