The approved semaglutide label describes increases in resting heart rate during treatment and calls for regular monitoring. [1]

A watch can help you notice a change. What matters next is whether it persists and whether you feel unwell.

## Resting heart rate and a recovery score are different

Resting heart rate is the number of heartbeats per minute while at rest. An app's recovery score may combine several measurements and its own calculations. When contacting the prescriber, identify the actual heart-rate reading rather than relying only on a color or score.

Useful details include the device, when the readings occurred, what your usual resting readings were and whether you felt your heart racing or pounding. Mention recent illness, vomiting, diarrhea and any new medicines too.

## A sustained change needs review

The semaglutide label advises patients to report palpitations or a racing heartbeat at rest. It directs clinicians to discontinue treatment if there is a sustained increase in resting heart rate. [1]

The label also warns that gastrointestinal symptoms can lead to dehydration. Reporting those symptoms helps the care team assess the overall situation, but it does not establish the cause of a heart-rate change by itself. [1]

## Symptoms take priority over the device

Do not wait for a wearable to confirm a problem if you feel seriously unwell. The label identifies a very rapid heartbeat alongside symptoms such as trouble breathing, swelling or fainting as a possible sign of a serious allergic reaction requiring immediate help. [1]

For an ongoing rise without emergency symptoms, send the prescriber a brief timeline and the relevant readings.
