# A longevity plan or a supplement stack: what are you paying for?

How to assess the evidence, testing and follow-up behind a longevity service before paying for a plan.

A useful longevity consultation should make the purpose of each test or product easier to understand. A long ingredient list or large lab panel is not enough information to judge a service. The practical questions are what is being assessed, what evidence supports the proposal, and who will explain the results.

## Start with the clinical question

Established risk assessment can have a clear purpose. For example, cardiovascular guidance considers overall risk and conventional cholesterol results, with selected additional testing when it may change a decision. [1]

A service should be able to explain a proposed test in those terms: which concern it addresses, what a result could change, and what follow-up is available. The same questions apply whether the marketing calls the visit preventive care, wellness or longevity.

## Review the entire supplement list

Self-selected products can overlap or interact with medicines. Some supplements also affect laboratory tests or create problems around surgery. A review therefore needs actual ingredients and amounts, not just product names. [2]

The FDA does not approve supplements for safety or effectiveness before sale. A clinical consultation does not change that regulatory status. It should make the evidence and remaining uncertainty clearer. [2]

## Separate product quality from treatment evidence

If a plan includes a compounded medicine, there should be an explanation of the specific medical need. Compounded medications are not FDA approved. The FDA does not verify their safety, effectiveness or quality before marketing. [3]

Reliable sourcing and appropriate clinical oversight matter, but neither establishes that a product extends human life. A claim about a lab result needs its own evidence, and a claim about longer life needs evidence for that outcome.

## Compare what the service actually includes

Before paying, the useful details are concrete: who conducts the assessment, how results are explained, how questions are handled afterward, and which visits, tests or products cost extra. Ask for those terms in writing.
